If a 3rd or 11th generation "christian" in India or anywhere else (though of Indian desent) decorated the many arms of a large statue of Vishnu and put presents under it during a month of the year that might coincide with a Hindu holiday, but is now celebrated as the birth of Jesus, would you not look at it as odd or suspicious?
How would that family explain that to Jesus? "I trust you to save me, but I'm just keeping the tradition that my family has had for years ... because it's fun."
And maybe they tell their kids that a elephant named Ganesha delivers gifts to the kids like Jesus gave Himself as the greatest gift for us. Does that look different than what "we" in our "christian society" do now do?
They aren't worshiping the pagan gods that their ancestors did, but it still looks that way doesn't it?

I vishnu would stop whining about our hedonistic, materialist traditions.
